Complete 2026-2027 Finance and Consulting Recruiting Calendar

A missed application window can close the door on a banking or consulting internship. Here is the month-by-month finance and consulting recruiting calendar for 2026-2027.

By Équipe FinanceCV

Missing a two-week application window can be enough to close the door on a summer internship in investment banking or a graduate program in consulting. Unlike many industries, finance and strategy consulting recruit on an extremely structured calendar, set more than a year in advance. Here is the month-by-month timeline to plan your applications for 2026-2027.

Why the recruiting calendar is critical in finance

In most industries, you apply when a position opens. In investment banking, strategy consulting, and audit, it's the reverse: firms open their programs on fixed dates, close applications within a few weeks, and process files in waves.

Three reasons explain this rigidity:

  • Recruiting happens largely through target campuses, with school forums and presentations that follow the French academic calendar (September start of year, internship returns in February-March).
  • Processes are long: online tests, assessment centers, and multiple interview rounds often stretch over 6 to 10 weeks, which pushes recruiters to launch campaigns well ahead of the actual start date.
  • Spots are limited and highly sought after: a Summer Analyst program or a Business Analyst role receives thousands of applications for a few dozen spots, which pushes firms to close applications as soon as the quota of qualified files is reached — sometimes before the officially announced deadline.

Investment banking and M&A calendar

Recruiting for M&A, ECM/DCM, and sales & trading follows the industry's most rigid calendar, with two main waves.

September to November — Summer Analyst (summer internship): bulge brackets (Goldman Sachs 🔗 and JPMorgan 🔗 among them) open applications for the following summer's internship right at the start of the academic year, with a frequent mid-November deadline for the most sought-after profiles. Online tests and first interviews often take place before the Christmas break.

January to March — Off-Cycle and conversions: off-cycle internships (3 to 6 months, often offered to students taking a gap year) open in January. This is also when banks communicate full-time conversion offers to the previous summer's interns.

April to June — catch-up and junior full-time roles: for candidates who didn't secure a fall internship, some banks reopen slots in the spring, often for Analyst roles straight out of school rather than internships.

Strategy consulting calendar

Strategy consulting firms (McKinsey 🔗, BCG 🔗, Bain & Company 🔗) recruit nearly year-round on a rolling basis, but with identifiable peaks.

September to November: the busiest window, aligned with the start of the academic year and campus career fairs. MBB firms and players like Roland Berger or Oliver Wyman multiply recruiting events at HEC, ESSEC, ESCP, Polytechnique, and Centrale.

February to April: a second peak, especially for end-of-studies internships starting the following summer and for candidates applying outside historical partner campuses.

The process itself (online application, a Solve-type test or equivalent, then two to four interview rounds with case studies) usually takes four to eight weeks once a file is shortlisted, leaving little room if you apply late in a given window.

Audit and accounting calendar

The Big Four (Deloitte 🔗, EY, KPMG, PwC) work differently: hiring volume is much higher, spread throughout the year, but two peaks still structure the calendar.

September: launch of the main campaign for end-of-studies internships (6 months) starting the following spring, a crucial period since these internships most often lead to a full-time offer — Deloitte, for instance, reports converting around 70% of its interns and apprentices.

January: a second recruiting peak, particularly for apprenticeship and gap-year internship profiles. EY's recruiting process 🔗 illustrates this logic of successive campaigns rather than a single annual cycle.

Unlike investment banking, the Big Four recruit continuously as needs arise on engagements, which makes spontaneous applications more effective than elsewhere.

Corporate legal calendar

Recruiting for in-house lawyers and corporate law firm associates follows a hybrid calendar, somewhere between the rigidity of banking and the flexibility of audit.

Corporate law firms: large Anglo-Saxon and French firms mainly recruit their trainee lawyers and associates in spring (March-May) for a start the following fall, with a second wave in autumn for more senior associate positions.

In-house legal departments: the calendar is much more opportunistic, tied to teams' actual needs rather than a fixed annual cycle — an M&A or compliance counsel position can open at any time of year depending on deal volume.

Bar exam (CRFPA): for law students aiming for the bar before a corporate legal career, the CRFPA calendar (application in spring, written exams in August-September, oral exam at year end) largely dictates the pace of subsequent applications.

Month-by-month checklist

To summarize, here are the key moments not to miss over 2026-2027:

  • July-August: prepare your files (resume, cover letters, logic tests) before the fall campaigns open.
  • September-November: main window for investment banking (Summer Analyst), strategy consulting, and audit (end-of-studies internships) — the year's most critical peak.
  • December: final interviews and negotiations for applications submitted in September-October.
  • January-March: off-cycle internships open in banking, second consulting peak, apprenticeship and gap-year campaign in audit.
  • March-May: corporate law firm recruiting, catch-up window for junior full-time roles in banking.
  • June: review the year, prepare spontaneous applications for the next intake.

⚠️ Note: these windows tighten year after year as application volume grows. It's better to apply as soon as a campaign officially opens rather than waiting for the announced deadline.
